Toyota announced pricing and specs on the 2016 Toyota Tacoma
With more than 29 configurations to choose from for the 2016 Toyota Tacoma, there’s literally something for everyone. Toyota just released pricing and spec information earlier today (Aug. 17, 2015) on the 2016 Toyota Tacoma and prices range from $24, 200 for a base model two wheel drive four-cylinder to $37,820 for a Limited Double cab with 4×4 and the V6 engine. It should be noted that Toyota’s most basic model Tacoma increased by $2,350 when compared to a similarly equipped model from last year.
The base four-cylinder is Toyota’s tried and true 2.7 DOHC good for 159 HP and 180 lb-ft. The V6 model brings in an entirely new engine with a segment first 3.5 liter Atkinson cycle engine with direct injection good for 278 HP and 265 lb-ft. 6-speed automatics are standard all around with a 5-speed manual optional on the four-cylinder and a 6-speed manual optional on the V6.
The styling is certainly more muscular than the previous generation. Taking cue from the desert racers of today, the sides are more flared out thanks to some wheel arches. The front sports a more chiseled clean look and out back there’s a bold Tacoma stamping with color matching bumper applique. All Tacomas come with an integrated rear spoiler.
In total there are five grades to choose from; SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road and Limited. Toyota’s new bed supposedly was made to take a beating with a composite inner bed and durable walls made from 10 percent lighter steel. All trim levels come with some sort of cloth interior with the Limited edition adding leather.
Suspension-wise, all Tacomas come with coil-spring double wishbone up front and stabilizer bar and leaf springs in the rear. 4×4 models come with an array of mechanical and electronic options to aid you off road including Auto LSD a multi-terrain select system, locking rear diff and Hill Start Assist control as well as many other technologies.
